Virginia Tech Student Wants Message From Nirvana
Posted Wednesday, July 24th 2013 @ 9am

Sub Pop Records, the original record label home of Nirvana, received a letter from a Virginia Tech.  The student wanted Nirvana to record a video from the university's homecoming.

The record label shared the letter on their Tumblr page.  It's clearly recent because there are references to iPhones, Facebook, and Twitter.  It also referred to Nirvana as "she."  The request was to have Nirvana say, "What's up Virginia Tech?  This is Nirvana!  Just wanted to wish you guys a Happy Homecoming Week and good luck at the game this Saturday.  LETS GO HOKIES!"

Nirvana front-man Kurt Cobain died in 1994.  With the exception of a few recent appearances with Paul McCartney, the surviving members have stayed away from public appearances as "Nirvana."

It does seem odd that the person sending the message did not know that, but knows what Sub Pop is.  The Tumblr page claims that Sub Pop staff dressed up as Nirvana and sent a video to the student.  We hope that video exists.
