Smashing Pumpkins front-man Billy Corgan likes to talk about the state of music and the music industry.  In a recent interview, he ripped shows like American Idol and had some harsh words for the recent reunion of Soundgarden:

"There are those bands that are essentially coming back only to make money...I am not in that business, obviously. I condemn anybody who’s in that business but doesn’t admit (he’s) in that business. When Soundgarden came back and they just played their old songs, great. I was a fan of Soundgarden, but call it for what it is."

Soundgarden reunited in 2010 after disbanding in 1997.  Earlier this year, they released Live to Rise, which is the first song recorded by the band since getting back together.  A new album is expected from Soundgarden as soon as October.

The current lineup of Chris Cornell, Matt Cameron, Kim Thayil, and Ben Shephard is the same as it was during the heyday of SoundgardenBilly Corgan is the only member of Smashing Pumpkins that remains from the 1990s.  He is an Axl Rose situation.
