Soundgarden will release their first album since 1996 on November 13. Front-man Chris Cornell told NME that the band is, "Sort of picking up where we left off...It's a very rich album with a lot of different moods to it."
Guitarist Kim Thayil tells Rolling Stone, "It re-establishes that we still rock, we're still heavy, and we're still a little weird." He also confirms two songs that will be on the album, Blood On The Valley Floor and A Thousand Days Before. Soundgarden released Live to Rise, the first the band recorded since the 1990s, for The Avengers film.
The release of the new Soundgarden album throws a wrench into the plans of another Seattle band. Drummer Matt Cameron is splitting drumming duties between the two bands and Pearl Jam is also hoping to release a new album in the new future. But, do not expect that one very soon.
The news comes right on the heels of criticism from the Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan. Corgan claims that Soundgarden's reunion is only about the money.
