Paul McCartney is the world's richest lead singer.  This should surprise nobody.  The Beatles are the best selling band in history.  Beatles drummer Ringo Starr just topped a list of the world's richest drummers.

McCartney is reportedly worth $800 million.  In second place, according to Celebrity Net Worth, is U2 front-man Bono.  Many thought Bono would become the world's richest musician, because he invested in Facebook back in 2009.  But, Facebook stock has not done as well as many have thought, so he is only worth $600 million.  Must be hard.

The rest of the top five includes Jimmy Buffett with $400 million, Elton John with $320 million, and Mick Jagger with $305 million.  The figures come from all public documents such as salaries, real estate holdings, divorces, record sales, royalties, and endorsements.
