For the past month, Green Day has been in the studio working on a follow-up to 2009's 21st Century Breakdown. Since then, once or twice a week, they will release a video teaser on Youtube. Sometimes, they give you almost no information. A prime example of this is showcased on their Leap Day video.
But, they did share a lot of information in a February 24 clip that lasted only 35 seconds. In that one, they discussed the personal, voyeuristic nature of the album and how attached they are to the record. It is also apparently, the first time they've sung about f---ing.
In their latest release, the band claims, "we are literally dealing with a new sound." Either the band is ramping up a hype machine or they are really in love with what they are doing. They expect the new sound to be a, "big, powerful statement."
No official word on an album release date. The band will play a few festivals in Europe and Japan this summer and the 'American Idiot' musical will make stops in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
