Foo Fighters and classic rock bands end up together, a lot. The following is a video from the Fighters' June 2008 concert at London's Wembley Stadium. The reason I am posting it now is because I just finished reading a Led Zeppelin biography, "When Giants Walked the Earth." I'll write more extensively about that, but for now, I wanted you to see this, because it is freaking awesome.
That was Dave Grohl on vocals, Taylor Hawkins on drums, John Paul Jones on bass, and Jimmy Page on guitar. Jones, who has worked with half of the world's musicians since the Zeppelin break-up, is a member of Them Crooked Vultures with Grohl. Page, along with Jones, has spent the last several years hoping that Robert Plant decides he wants to tour with Led Zeppelin (more on that later).
The guy you maybe don't know is Taylor Hawkins, the drummer for Foo Fighters. I have often that it must be an interesting existence to be the drummer for Dave Grohl's band, but he's more than capable. Also, the man can sing. Grohl got behind the drums for another Zeppelin number that night. Hawkins took the vocals for "Rock and Roll."
