Thursday you can start your weekend right at Mac’s Speed Shop with Woody for his beer club. He will educate you about what a beer club is and why you should join him at Mac’s each month. There will be a featured craft brewery and drink/food specials all day. There will be a special tasting from the brewery as well. There will be NC Beerfest tickets given out, Carolina Rebellion Tickets, and more station giveaways. Young the Giant plays at the Fillmore at 7:00p.m with Apache Relay. Tickets are $24.50. The Charlotte Bobcats play the New York Knicks at Timewarner Cable Arena for $10. The Charlotte Music Awards Rock Showcase with Funky Geezer, Chris Sanchez, Shadow of Myself, Crisis, Skinny Velvet, and Velvet Truckstop is happening at the Chop Shop.
Friday, make it out to the Saloon NC Music Factory from 8-11pm for the Miller Lite Great Taste Music Series FINALS between Vess and 21s Century Goliath. It’s a free show, and the winner will perform at Speed Street in May. Join DZL for Friday LIVE at the Factory featuring Southern Culture on the Skids with Aqualads from 6-11pm. At Amos’, you can see Of Good Nature with Sun Dried Vibes, Who Rescued Who, and Lucky Five. The show starts at 7:30 and is $10. Our brother station 99.7 the Fox is having the Fox Fillmore Flashback Series, starting with Gimme Hendrix at 9pm at, you guessed it, the Fillmore. Visit the Mint Museum for the Big Brew-Ha at 7:30pm. A celebration of all things brewed, you’ll find coffee, tea, and beer along with gourmet pub grub from countries all around Europe. Served in a festival like atmosphere with games like Brew Pong, Classy Cornhole, live entertainment, and a balloon pop, it should be a good time. All attendees will get a commemorative “Brew Ha” stein. $60 per person, and you know those persons must be at least 21!
Saturday, check out Firehouse with Preacher Stone and Hard to Handle at Amos’ at 8pm. Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 at the door. If you’re into horse racing, you might enjoy the Queen’s Cup Steeplechase. The winner gets over $90,000! Tickets are $40 and it will be held at Mineral Springs. Bowling fans, the Park Lanes Grand Re-Opening is finally happening! From 2pm to 2am enjoy moonshine tasting, a cornhole competition, local craft breweries, and live music. 10% of the proceeds between 2p and 5p will be donated to Big Brother Big Sister of Charlotte. Bowl for FREE all night, NO cover charge! Woo!
Wrap up your weekend with the Charlotte Oyster Roast at Growlers Pour House at 1pm. There will be live music, craft beer, and well…oysters! Entry is $5 and food/drink tickets are $3. See ya in the back parking lot for the 3rd Annual roast! The extremely talented kids from the Charlotte School of Rock will be performing their Spring Preview Show at VBGBs at 4 p.m. It’s a free show, so please go out and support our young musicians. These kids truly ROCK.

If you thought you got your fill of the Speedway last weekend at the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals, think again. Thursday marks the start of the Food Lion Auto Fair at Charlotte Motor Speedway and it lasts until Sunday. 4 days of beautiful car browsing and boasting. Tickets are only $10. The Charlotte Knights are in full swing now, and they play the Durham
Bulls at 7:15, so get your $9 ready and take me out to the ball game! The Charlotte Wine and Food Weekend 2012 is also going to take place this weekend, starting on Thursday and running through the 22nd. The festival features wine tastings, paired dinners, and more. Numerous winemakers, brewmasters, mixologists, and chefs will be there, so you might
learn a thing or two.
Friday, get your keesters back out to the Saloon for the Miller Lite Great Taste Music Series 2nd Qualifying. Now we already know Vess won the first round, so whoever wins this round will compete against them in the finals to play at Speed Street in May. It’s a
free show, and great music from 8 to 11. Our favorite Bobcats take on the Memphis Grizzlies this Friday at TWC arena at 7:00, and the Knights play again against the Gwinnett Braves at 7:15 at the Knights Stadium. Brandon Kirkley and the Firecrackers, VESS, and Dan
Forsberg are playing at show at Amos’ Southend for the BKTF CD Release. That
show starts at 7:15 and it’s 8 bucks.
Calling all photographers! Saturday is the NC Music Factory City Block Project, a 24 hour photo contest starting at noon and lasting until noon on Sunday. The participants choose the winners, and there’s a special contest inside of the Comedy Zone! Join Rozak and the 1065 Street Team at Infinity’s End from 4-6pm. Hang out for the 4/20 celebration and the
special 4/20 raffle hosted by Rozak! The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery is hosting the Louisiana Spring Fest from 12-8pm. $20 will get you in, and it includes a plate of food (crawfish and/or jambalaya, and corn and potatoes) and a 16oz pint of OMB beer! There will also be live Cajun music from 2-4pm, and the ToneBlazers (bluegrass) from 4:30 to 7:30pm. The A.W.O.L Charlotte Music Festival starts at 11am at Symphony Park at Southpark. There will be food, drink, and music. General admission is $40. See one of the greatest albums recreated with Abbey Road Live at the Visualite Theatre. The show starts at 9:30 and is $14. Oh Darling, Something tells me you’re going to want to Come Together, and stay until The End, Because… it’s awesome. Sickman, the Ultimate Alice N Chains Tribute, is playing at Amos’ Southend at 8pm for $8.
Last, but certainly never least, the Charlotte Knights play against the Gwinnett Braves again on Saturday and then on Sunday at 2:15. The Charlotte Bobcats also play on Sunday at 8pm.

Friday is the start of the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway!!! YAYY!!!! The weekend will be full of ear-drum blasting fun at this event. The gates open at 8am Friday morning, and qualifying starts at 10. Amos' Southend is turning 21 this weekend. We're so proud! Celebrate with Cage the Elephant as they play with Bad Cop and Fusebox Poet at the 21st Anniverary party. Doors open at 8 and tickets are $21 in advance or $24 the day of. Candlebox will also be a hop, jump, and a skip away at the Fillmore. Doors open at 7:00 and tickets are $18.
Saturday you can head right back over to zMAX, because the fun starts again at 8am. The ESPNU Warrior Classic, a men's college lacrosse double-header has a new home at the American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte. The Saturday event will feature Rutgers vs. Syracuse in the first game at 11am, then Hofstra vs. North Carolina at 1:30. Both games will be televised on ESPNU. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for kids and students with IDs. The Jordan Brand Classic will also be kicking off at the cable box. See the top highschool players from around the world! 2:30 starts the International game, 4:30 is the North Carolina game, and 7:00 is the All-American Top 22 high school seniors. If you're looking for a dose of laughter, comedian Lewis Black will be at Oven's Auditorium at 8pm for $39.50+. Join NASCAR Speed Park for the NASCAR Viewing Party. There will be a special viewing of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, "The Samsung Mobile 500." For only $11.99m you're welcome to go go-kart racing, mini-golfing, laser tagging, and rock wall climbing. There will be trivia and door prizes, and "Lugnut" will also be there. It all starts at 6:30pm.
Sunday is going to feel like deja vu, because it's the third day at zMAX Dragway. Gates open at 9 and Pre-race ceremonies start at 11. See who wins the finals at 12! Join the NoDa Grand Prix for a full day of racing in historic Charlotte, wrapped in an outdoor festival with live music and good food. Events last into the evening with a twlight professional race through the bar and restaurant-lined streets of NoDa. Something fun and different to do! the Charlotte Bobcats wrap up the weekend with the Boston Celtics at 6:00pm for $10.
