Rain Rain go away for this weekend. I can’t stand it anymore. I need sunshine!
Thursday you can start your weekend right at Mac’s Speed Shop with Woody for his beer club. He will educate you about what a beer club is and why you should join him at Mac’s each month. There will be a featured craft brewery and drink/food specials all day. There will be a special tasting from the brewery as well. There will be NC Beerfest tickets given out, Carolina Rebellion Tickets, and more station giveaways. Young the Giant plays at the Fillmore at 7:00p.m with Apache Relay. Tickets are $24.50. The Charlotte Bobcats play the New York Knicks at Timewarner Cable Arena for $10. The Charlotte Music Awards Rock Showcase with Funky Geezer, Chris Sanchez, Shadow of Myself, Crisis, Skinny Velvet, and Velvet Truckstop is happening at the Chop Shop.
Friday, make it out to the Saloon NC Music Factory from 8-11pm for the Miller Lite Great Taste Music Series FINALS between Vess and 21s Century Goliath. It’s a free show, and the winner will perform at Speed Street in May. Join DZL for Friday LIVE at the Factory featuring Southern Culture on the Skids with Aqualads from 6-11pm. At Amos’, you can see Of Good Nature with Sun Dried Vibes, Who Rescued Who, and Lucky Five. The show starts at 7:30 and is $10. Our brother station 99.7 the Fox is having the Fox Fillmore Flashback Series, starting with Gimme Hendrix at 9pm at, you guessed it, the Fillmore. Visit the Mint Museum for the Big Brew-Ha at 7:30pm. A celebration of all things brewed, you’ll find coffee, tea, and beer along with gourmet pub grub from countries all around Europe. Served in a festival like atmosphere with games like Brew Pong, Classy Cornhole, live entertainment, and a balloon pop, it should be a good time. All attendees will get a commemorative “Brew Ha” stein. $60 per person, and you know those persons must be at least 21!
Saturday, check out Firehouse with Preacher Stone and Hard to Handle at Amos’ at 8pm. Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 at the door. If you’re into horse racing, you might enjoy the Queen’s Cup Steeplechase. The winner gets over $90,000! Tickets are $40 and it will be held at Mineral Springs. Bowling fans, the Park Lanes Grand Re-Opening is finally happening! From 2pm to 2am enjoy moonshine tasting, a cornhole competition, local craft breweries, and live music. 10% of the proceeds between 2p and 5p will be donated to Big Brother Big Sister of Charlotte. Bowl for FREE all night, NO cover charge! Woo!
Wrap up your weekend with the Charlotte Oyster Roast at Growlers Pour House at 1pm. There will be live music, craft beer, and well…oysters! Entry is $5 and food/drink tickets are $3. See ya in the back parking lot for the 3rd Annual roast! The extremely talented kids from the Charlotte School of Rock will be performing their Spring Preview Show at VBGBs at 4 p.m. It’s a free show, so please go out and support our young musicians. These kids truly ROCK.
