Yes, Somoan Air becomes the first to charge based on weight. They say it's the most fair..fare! You see the costs of the fuel to get from point A to point B is directly proportional to the weight the airplane is carrying, therefore, if you and your belongings are heavier, then you pay more.

Of course opponents say it's discriminatory! Is it? Is it any more discriminatory than making smokers pay higher insurance premiums than non-smokers?

Other airlines are expected to follow suit!
