I know you're probably thinking, mummies? Really?
And no, I'm not talking about the Brendan Fraser movies either.
I'm talking about REAL LIFE.
Where else am I going to get to see a real Egyptian mummy.
NO WHERE ELSE I tell you. NO WHERE ELSE.
Here is the description for Mummies of the World (taken from Discovery Place's website:)
Mummies of the World is the largest exhibition of mummies and related artifacts ever assembled, made its southern U.S. premiere at Discovery Place on 11.11.11. This compelling collection, presented with reverence and dignity, includes ancient mummies and important artifacts from Asia, Oceania, South America, Europe, as well as ancient Egypt, dating as far back as 6,500 years.
Everyone has see the Mask of Tutankhamun's mummy but have you seen this mummy?
This is "THE TATTOO WOMAN"
You can obviously see her tattoos, but what's her story? What were the meanings, if any, behind her tattoos? She was obviously buried with love and care. Did she die at an early time in her life?
There is also this Chilean Mummy:
Why was he or she placed this way to rest for the rest of the existence on earth? What did he/she die of?
It is going to be completely amazing for me to learn their stories. There is so much we don't know about out there. Through their deaths, may we learn. Through their deaths, may we see how the past was and how much we have evolved as a human race.
I will have a full recap on Monday of my visit this weekend. I can't wait!!!!
I don't have to tell anyone how happy this makes me! New video and song by one of my favorites RAMMSTEIN!!!!
Watch and enjoy!!!
honeyhoney is one of those bands that you just find yourself falling in love with ESPECIALLY when you see them live. The banter between Suzanne and Ben is infectious and you want to sit a bar with them and share stories over many bottles of whiskey and hope that they will be kind enough to break out the guitar and banjo and sing a few songs for you.
I was very fortunate to have a record label rep introduce me the musical stylings of honeyhoney on their first release and I've been a fan of their music ever since. Suzanne's voice is haunting, bluesy, and crawls under your skin and stays there. The chemistry between Suzanne and Ben comes through their music. Sheer electricity.
1) Angel of Death
When I listen to it, I hear the story of a girl that is obsessed. Her love will be the death of whomever she loves. It's musically a haunting song.
2) Glad I've Done What I Did
This song paints such a vivid picture with the opeing lyric "I was born with blue skin...tied in knots that I'm still in. When the doctor cut me free, man he made an enemy out of me. I should have stayed, crawled back in and hid, but I'm glad I done what I did." In my opinion, a song about no regrets.
Might have been about Ohio, but it could be about anytown anywhere. I love the chorus to this song. One of my favorite songs on the CD
4) Don't Know How
For lack of better words, I find this song really pretty and a song about letting go.
5) Turn That Finger Around
I will play this song for my nieces when they are older and hope they get the message that I got: your actions are your own. Before you blame others, maybe you should look at yourself first.
6) I Don't Mind
This song is a toe tapping song and if you don't want to shake your bootie to it then, seriously, something is wrong with you. My 2nd favorite song.
7) Old School Friends
The song title says it all...a song about the old school friends you let go, outgrow, or just let slide away.
8) Let's Get Wrecked
My favorite song on this CD. A song about grown up love and how hard it is.
9) LA River
I find this song to be just sad...there is nothing on that screams sad, but it just makes me homesick.
10) All On You
This song makes me realize that sometimes the work you do isn't enough and that sometimes the person you're in a relationship or friendship with must also work to meet you half way.
11) Thin Line
"I want whiskey when I'm sick and a man when I'm well, but it's nice to have them both when I want to raise some hell." This song is sort of how I live my life.

Can one have a restraining order slapped against them for promoting a band?
If so, then I'm gulity for shameless promotion of The Hundred Days.
Did you know they are playing on Saturday night?
No? Are you lliving under a rock?
I can not confirm if it's their first time in Charlotte, but I can confirm, it will be my first time seeing them, and I am beyond stoked for this set.
THEY GO ON AT 5:30 PM - DO NOT...I REPEAT DO NOT MISS THIS SET.
Yes, there might be that other bands playing but for me, the only one that's playing is THE HUNDRED DAYS.
Yes, working in radio, I do get to see a lot of shows/concerts/whatever you want to call them, but there are only a few shows that I truly get to enjoy and even fewer shows that I get excited for. I'm musically jaded. A band or artist have to truly impress me for me to suggest to a friend or random stranger that they should pick up their CD or go to their show.
Then there are bands that when you listen to their music, you just know that what they have is special. They aren't the cookie cutter artst/band of rock, pop, country, etc.
That's what I felt when I heard The Hundred Days. I can't quite put my finger on what it is, but they've got that spark. The spark that will take them far if the music industry is kind to them. Let's face it, they and most bands that don't sound like what's in, has a long hard road ahead of them. Some make it, some don't.
So, if you're going to Music Monsters and Mayhem on Saturday, I ask you to come out early and give music that you might normally listen to a chance.
Best case scenario: You became a fan.
Worst case scenario: You drink a few extra beers.
Remember, THEY GO ON AT 5:30 PM - DO NOT...I REPEAT DO NOT MISS THIS SET.
I'll be acting like a fool in Section 102. I hope to see you there..come say HI and rock out with me.
"GIRL AT A PARTY"
While most of the world watched the World Series Game, I was watching hockey and I'm almost positive that the baseball game was NO WHERE near exciting or fun to watch as the Toronto Maple Leafs vs Winnipeg Jets.
Not only did Winnipeg blow a 2 goal lead in the 3rd, they let the Leafs score not 1 but 2 goals within 13 seconds of each other.
This was the goal of the night by Joffrey Lupul.
