What’s your opinion?

Well I bill myself and the show as “songs that Don’t suck from the 80’s”.   Every now and then people ask – “Wiz what songs DO suck?

When I answer questions like that I run the risk of alienating some listeners – but let me take a stab at it with the usual disclaimer lead-in…

No offense (which means someone will find this offensive) but here are some songs I think suck from the 80’s – in no particular order:

Starship – “We Built This City” - Having an appreciation for the Woodstock generation – it was sad to see the Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship sink to this level.  The band who was a head-liner at Max Yazgur’s farm was now doing lip-syncing on American Bandstand.

Beach Men “Kokomo” – Yes, the Beach MEN!  The stopped being “boys” when they turned 70! Grow up guys.  I DID enjoy the movie “Cocktail” and I will admit that when I played the song on Jersey radio (94.3 WJLK-FM) I tapped my feet.  But this Kokomo thing was a far cry from Good Vibrations.

Glenn Frey of the Eagles’ “The Heat is On”  was acceptable for two reasons.  1) He actually sounded like Glenn Frey and 2) the video had that hot chick playing the sax.   I  am still trying to find her….. “Smugglers Blues” and “You belong to the City” I could’ve done without.

Vanilla Ice, Don Johnson, Milli Vanilli, Bruce Willis, WHAM, Spandau Ballet, :  Let me know if you need me to opine.

There are hundreds of others…but enough about me…Tell me YOUR worst songs of the 80’s  wiz@1065.com
