Canadian band Our Lady Peace has been around awhile. At Weenie Roast, they sat down with Rozak and reminisced about life as a band. Front-man Raine Maida credits their ability to stay together to the music saying, "If the music stays relevant within the band, I think there is still something there worth fighting for."
The guys also discussed their tour with Van Halen during the early days of the band. It clearly wasn't something they wanted to do. "We said no. We said no again. Then we finally a call saying if you guys don't take this tour, you're dropped from your record label...from the president of the record label.
But, it was not all bad for Our Lady Peace. "It turned us into a rock band," says Maida citing the pressure to perform in front of large audiences who weren't interested in seeing them.
Foxy Shazam is one of the most unique bands in the country. Their stage show is a sight to see even if you do not dig their music. The band released a new album The Church of Rock N' Roll back in January.
They are currently touring with Slash and they talked to Rozak about what its like to try to win a crowd over. When asked about Slash front-man Eric Sean Nally says, "There's a lot of respect. Intimidation, I don't feel."
Charlotte's own Paper Tongues played to a hometown crowd at Weenie Roast on Sunday. The band is finishing up an EP that they hope to release soon. They are releasing it on their own, but with help from manager Bill McGathy.
Part of Paper Tongues' goal is to go international. According to front-man Aswan North, McGathy believes the band could have international crossover success. But, for the band, their goal is to make the best music possible because, as Aswan puts it, "there's no faking the funk."
The Offspring is one of the biggest alternative/punk rock bands in the world. They have sold over 45 million albums worldwide. Their 1994 album Smash is the best selling independent record of all time.
Front-man Dexter Holland and lead guitarist Noodles talked to DZL about life as a headling band. They are headed out all over the world, including an upcoming stint in Japan. They also discuss rockstar purchases like broken fighter jets.
Days Go By is the band's new album and the title track was the lead single. The band mentions how they do not like new stuff to sound like their old stuff. Check it out.
